Should You Give Your Pets CBD?

Should You Give Your Pet CBD?

I see this question being asked a lot lately and it totally makes sense. With the rise of CBD being so rapid right now the uses of said CBD is also growing. This includes CBD for pets.

Many people are claiming CBD has helped their pets in a myriad of ways soo.. To make your life easier, we have done some research and put together a few ways CBD Could possibly help your pet.

I will also be putting some of the top CBD pet products from some of the top CBD companies as of this videos release in the description, so check that out.

Now cbd is being used in pets primarily to ease pain, reduce separation anxiety, and alleviate nausea. However it has also been found to help older pets who are starting to experience joint pain or hip problems.

Ok so without further ado, let’s talk about what you came here for, CBD benefits for pets.

Now there are more benefits than the ones we will mention in this video, however for the sake of your precious time we chose 3 that should apply to the average pet.

1. CBD is a Powerful Painkiller

In the late 90’s, a study published in the European Journal of Pharmacology explained that the endocannabinoid system was very much involved in managing your pain. Now as of today, CBD has become well known for its painkilling effects..

Studies have actually shown that CBD can temporarily stop the absorption of anandamide, which is a fatty acid neurotransmitter in the brain that binds to cannabinoid receptors and mimics the psychoactive effects of plant-derived cannabinoid drugs. Put more simply it basically  helps to dampen pain signals in the brain.

This temporary increase in anandamide can have various effects, one of them being reduced pain sensations.

On top of this, CBD also reduces inflammation throughout the body which is one of the main contributors of pain.

2. CBD Reduces Anxiety and Stress

So CBD doesn’t just help with yours or your pets physical symptoms.

In fact, many studies have shown that CBD can help manage the symptoms of a variety of mental conditions, including anxiety.

And just like us, pets can also suffer from anxiety, stress or even have phobias.

Now every pet is different just like you and me, and we really don’t know what they are going through, because unfortunately we are not Dr. Dolittle.. So basically what I am saying is that the levels of anxiety is gonna change with every pet.

In humans, anxiety and stress might cause us to bite our nails, pace around, or become a little shaky.

In our pets, anxiety can cause similar repetitive behaviour. Like chewing on your shit, or defecating on your bed..

Recent research has shown that cbd can help reduce feelings of anxiety which in turn reduces these symptoms.

So how does CBD do this, We don’t really know.

Typical anxiety medications usually target a type of serotonin receptor in the body known as 5-HT1A.

And by targeting these receptors, anti anxiety medications can help temporarily boost serotonin levels in the brain. And if you don’t know, more serotonin means more happiness.

Research suggests that CBD might work in a similar way, also temporarily increasing serotonin levels in the brain.

Because of this CBD can have anti anxiety and anti-depressant effects which obviously reduces stress levels.

3. CBD is an Antiemetic

What does that mean?

Basically it means that CBD helps to reduce Nausea.

Nausea as well as vomiting in both humans and their pets can be very serious, often leading to a decreased appetite, rapid weight loss, dehydration, fatigue, and more.

Now there is a ton of antiemetic medications on the market, however while these drugs are often effective in controlling nausea and vomiting, they can also cause some side effects. What are some of the side effects you ask?

  • Excessive drooling
  • Lack of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Diarrhea
  • Lowered Blood Pressure
  • And there is more but I am gonna stop there since I think you get the point.

More and more evidence is coming through that shows that CBD is a successful antiemetic, controlling both nausea and vomiting while also stimulating appetite.

What’s Interesting is that it seems to do so by stimulating 5-HT1A receptors, the same receptors which can help reduce anxiety.

Now by activating this receptor, CBD can significantly reduce feelings of nausea and also suppress the subsequent vomiting reflex.

The best part is that CBD doesn’t seem to cause any of the side effects that traditional antiemetic medications do.

With all that said, CBD seems to be a promising way to help your pet through their various ailments and this was just a few of the many benefits CBD can bring to your pets life.
